Telephone Voice

I am known around my house for having a telephone voice. Meaning, no matter what's going on at the time, no matter what type of mood I'm in, no matter if I'm in the middle of a big argument, I will answer the phone with a bright, cheerful, "hello".

The other night I had grown rather furious of Annabelle's continued defiance and rebellion throughout the day that proceeded all the way through bedtime. As I was putting her in bed, still extremely angry, she asked me to sing a song for her. I laid down beside her and began to sing "Jesus Loves the Little Children of the World". In that moment I realized there was absolutely now anger in my singing voice. It wasn't even detectable. Wow. Quite quickly the frustration, exhaustion and anger began to dissipate.  What a gift and great reminder to call on Him sooner.

Psalm 30:4-5
Sing to the LORD, you saints of his; praise his holy name. For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.

Thank you for the reminder to sing and to call on the name of Jesus!
